Chord melody

Chord melody or “guitar chord melody” is a demanding style of jazz guitar playing pioneered by George Van Eps. Chord melody playing is playing the jazz-chord harmony, the melody line, and rhythm on the guitar at the same time. Often with a walking bass. A chord melody player must be able to think like an arranger. Some define chord melody playing as the ability to making up an arrangement on the fly to a given melody.
