John is a story teller. He tells us stories of beauty, fantasy, thrills, and shadows behind them with his six strings. Every time I listen to his story, I have tears in my eyes. True musician. I checked out the Eastman site and unfortunately found that their jazz guitars are not available in 25.5" scale. THAT would make their instruments sound as good as the L-5 above. Short scale guitars like Byrdlands, ES-175's, or those 25" scale Eastman just sound sort of tinny to me. diminishedlogic (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)

True, but I think they meant the state of modern archtop guitars are buzzy and trebly. Not all but more than less are like that. I do not beleive a guitar has to be vintage to sound and play great, but I can see why laguna made the comment. John plays great but his guitar sounds too new & trebly. No disrespect to John because he is a great player but that guitar sounds buzzy and trebly. As many newer made archtop instruments do.
